LanguageCert SELT Speaking & Listening
In short
The LanguageCert SELT Speaking & Listening test is a live, one-to-one exam in four parts: an interview, a role play, a picture task, and a listen-and-talk task where the examiner reads a short talk and you respond. It's taken at A1, A2 or B1 and reported as Pass or Not yet — used for UK visa and citizenship applications.
Format
- Part 1 — a short interview: the examiner asks about you and everyday topics.
- Part 2 — a role play in an everyday situation.
- Part 3 — a picture task: describe and compare, or reach a decision together.
- Part 4 — listen and talk: the examiner reads a short talk, you answer questions on it, then talk about the topic.

How it’s scored
SELT Speaking & Listening is marked on five criteria and reported as Pass or Not yet at the level you're sitting (A1, A2 or B1) — it doesn't give a separate CEFR band.
